Karen Montoya brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to public service to her candidacy for Bernalillo County Clerk. From 1991 to 2004, she served with dedication in the Bernalillo County Assessor's Office, steadily advancing her career to ultimately become the first woman elected as Bernalillo County Assessor in 2004. In this role, Karen worked tirelessly to modernize operations and ensure fair property assessments for all residents, successfully serving two terms.

Transitioning to the state level, Karen was elected to the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC) in 2012, where she served as Vice Chair. After retiring from my previous role, my passion for serving the community only grew stronger. Running for Bernalillo County Clerk allows me to leverage my expertise and leadership skills to ensure transparent, accessible, and efficient governance for our community. Retirement has given me the opportunity to focus wholeheartedly on this mission, and I am excited to embark on this journey to contribute to the betterment of our county.
